A quick one today, I'm sat in the departure lounge at the airport so I thought I'd talk about the art kit I've brought with me. I'm very much going to be green and blue sketching, swapping the rolling hills for pointy ones with lochs nestled at the bottom.
So, I've bought a pretty comprehensive kit, partly as I want to move on from just pen and pencil to using colour so I also have watercolours, pencils and crayons. Then I have my usual mini sketchbook, watercolour pad and a bigger sketchbook in case of inspiration. I do intend on doing more than just quick sketches as long as the rain holds off.
But actually, on a daily basis at home, all I carry around is a small a6 (postcard) size sketchbook and a small pencil case with a few pens and pencil, of which I usually only use one!
It doesn't even need to be that much, I've been known to use normal paper and a biro. Having a hard back book is useful though too lean on.
So, this nudge is to get out and draw, just have a go. Go on.
Thanks for the peek into your pencil case. I find it’s exciting to switch materials now and then, otherwise I end up in a rut of using the same thing over and over. Have a brilliant trip!
Looking forward to seeing what Scottish art you produce.
I cannot draw for toffee!
